Sep 20, 2024Recently, in Shenzhen metro stations, visitors have been able to appreciate unique sculptural artworks. Art Architecture
In every corner of the metro station, there are artistic installations. Today, let's go and explore the unique seating features in our metro station that blend practicality with artistic flair. Who knows, you might see something you've never seen before!
Da Meisha Station, Line 2/8
Da Meisha Station, themed "Sunshine + Beach Dreams," gathers a diverse array of intricate marine elements. Utilizing Fiberglass and paint, the station platform is designed with whale-shaped benches, creating a vibrant marine art atmosphere that allows people to immerse themselves in the artistic oceanic ambiance.
Similarly, Little Meisha Station also features small whale benches, along with the "Hand in Hand" small cloth whales, adding a touch of whimsy to the waiting platform.
Shangwu Station, Line 6
A sculpture inspired by the legend of the "San Sheng Shi" and also serving as an artistic seating feature in the metro station~
Located on the platform of Shangwu Station, it is crafted using Stainless Steel Mirror surfaces and textures, with stainless steel predominating. Through different material textures on the stones, it conveys the essence of all things in the world—past, present, and future, reflecting a view of eternal life and enduring truth.
Liutang Station, Line 12
In line with the design concept of "The Pulse of Humanity," the platform's "Child" series of art installations are incredibly lively and adorable. Passengers can also hop on Line 12 to explore other stations and discover more of these Charming Doll Sculptures.
Changzhen Station, Line 6
Have you ever noticed that the seats at Changzhen Station resemble the loading icon seen during the waiting process on smart devices? Its name is "Loading." Designed with a marble gradient from black to white, this public seating mimics the loading symbol. Sitting on the loading symbol while waiting for the subway adds a unique touch of amusement, doesn't it?
Apart from the ones mentioned above, there are many other stations with distinctive artistic seating as well.
Shutianpu Station
Science Park Station
Yanzihu Station
"Placing artworks in subway stations is aimed at allowing more ordinary citizens to come into contact with excellent sculpture works and appreciate the cultural temperament of the city," said the curator in charge of the project. "We hope to enrich the daily life experiences of the citizens in this way, making the subway stations become artistic and charming urban landmarks."
Undoubtedly, the sculptures in Shenzhen's subway stations are becoming a new cultural calling card for this city. Not only do they bring aesthetic enjoyment to passengers, but they also add a unique humanistic connotation to the city. It is believed that in the near future, they will increasingly become artistic landmarks in the hearts of more and more citizens.
